Mental Performance Training with The Athletes Health
Team Iowa has partnered with The Athletes Health (TAH) to add mental performance training into our athlete development system.
This season, every athlete will take part in short, high-energy Mental Reps designed to build the same qualities we value on the court.
This training is built around three pillars:
Confident. Flexible. Fun.
Each session helps players strengthen confidence, stay flexible when things don’t go as planned, and rediscover the fun that keeps them competing.
How It Works
For Athletes
- 5-15-minute Mental Reps at the start of practice every other Monday
- Reset exercises, focus drills, and pressure-control techniques built into basketball practice
- Learn how to think clearer, reset faster, build mental toughness, and enjoy competition more
For Coaches
- 30-minute monthly workshops on coaching the mental side of performance
- Plug-and-play “mental reps” for warm-ups or huddles
- Language and tools that build team composure and connection
For Parents
- 30-minute workshop once a month promoting the assistance of parent support
- Learn what your athlete is working on and how to support their mental growth
- Take home short exercises to reinforce confidence and focus
Season Flow
- Begins the week of Oct 20, 2025
- Break between Thanksgiving – Christmas
- Runs through end of February

Free 1-on-1 Mental Training Session (Complimentary)
Every Team Iowa family can schedule a free 30–45 minute mental training call with Gabe Rummel. The call is customized to your athlete and gives you one practical exercise you can use before shots, after misses, and in crunch time.

Meet The Coach
Gabe Rummel, M.S. and Founder of The Athletes Health
Gabe is a Mental Performance Coach who works with athletes, coaches, and parents across Iowa to help them train their minds like their bodies, and improve confidence while handling pressure in sports for life.
His 3C Framework of Clarity, Confidence, and Composure is the foundation of every TAH session. Expect short, active, and practical exercises, not lectures, that athletes can feel working right away.
